About Us
Our Story
Reliant Diesel was founded as Melbourne Marine Diesel in 2017. Our owner Dave saw a strong need for this type of service on Florida’s Space and Treasure Coasts.
From the beginning, Dave’s goal was to do things differently. Focusing on safety instead of expediency, the customer instead of internal processes, using best practices instead of ‘seat of the pants,’ Dave built out the great team of qualified people we have today.
Our Technicians attend certification training every year with our OEMs. Continuing education is a constant which means that as things change in the market – new engines, new technology, new best practices – this team is always up to date.
And, of course, we have the appropriate insurance to minimize the risks to us and our customers.
In 2025, with the acquisition of Chris Brown Marine in Ormand Beach, we were able to expand further north along the Florida Coast. Along with this expansion, came our name change to Reliant Marine & Industrial Diesel.

Owner
Dave Acheson, is passionate about marine diesel mechanics. He earned a Diploma in Diesel Technology and began his career at Eckels Diesel, embracing project challenges and problem-solving. As the owner of Reliant Diesel, he is dedicated to applying his expertise to every project.
Doug
Service Manager
Doug applies his extensive marine engine expertise at Reliant Diesel, driven by his passion for marine engines. He utilizes his Bachelor’s in Business Management and U.S. Air Force certifications in hydraulics and as a crew chief to provide top-quality service.
Brian
Parts Manager
Brian’s career is fueled by a lifelong passion for boating. With extensive experience in marine electronics and parts, he is a vital asset in managing marine parts here at Reliant Diesel.
Simon
Technician
Simon, who holds an MMI certification and has undergone training under the guidance of David Acheson, brings a wealth of enthusiasm, professionalism, and dedication to the team. His advanced skills and knowledge, coupled with his hands-on experience, make him a valuable asset.
Bobby
Technician
Bobby began his career as an automotive technician, but his interest in diesel work led him to further develop his skills. At Eckels Diesel, he completed extensive OEM courses, enhancing his expertise in diesel mechanics. Since joining Reliant Diesel, his dedication and knowledge have made him a valued team member.
Will
Technician
Will attended BOCES Barry Tech Trade School for boat repair, where he built a solid foundation in marine mechanics. He prides himself on successful repairs and has trained with top diesel brands. Bringing both passion and skill to every project, Will is a crucial asset in delivering exceptional results.
Dennis
Online Sales Specialists
As a former Marine, Dennis has gained significant experience in communications and diesel engines while working in the logging industry. After successfully running his own business, he joined Reliant Diesel, where he applies his diverse skills to deliver outstanding service.

He takes pride in his successful repairs and has trained with leading diesel brands.
