Reliant-Diesel has immediate openings for 2 mechanics at the South Daytona location.

Are you a qualified Marine Diesel Mechanic with at least 3 years of field experience? Do you have the skills necessary to work independently with minimal supervision on marine diesel engines? THIS IS A SKILLED TECHNICAL POSITION WHICH REQUIRES PRIOR HANDS ON EXPERIENCE WITH DIESEL ENGINES, PREFERABLY IN A MARINE DIESEL ENVIRONMENT. Marine diesel direct working knowledge required.

TECHNICIANS MUST POSSESS THE SKILLS NECESSARY TO DIAGNOSE, SERVICE AND REPAIR A VESSEL WITH LITTLE TO NO SUPERVISION.

Position Details:

 

We are looking for a reliable, mechanically inclined marine technician to perform maintenance and repairs on a variety of marine diesel engines. The marine technician’s responsibilities include regular inspection and testing of engines, propellers, gears and steering mechanisms, as well as, replacing, disassembling and reassembling parts and all other components necessary in order to get the job done and the vessel back on the water.

This job requires knowledge of marine diesel engines and equipment, including the ability to read parts diagrams, create parts lists, follow instructions and anticipate potential mechanical issues based upon the data presented. Must be able to work in very tight and confined spaces. Basic tools and supplies are required along with a clean driving record.

Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Build and assemble machines or mechanical components according to requirements.

  • Clean, repair, and maintain all parts of the boat or vessel.

  • Read through repair and installation manuals work orders to determine the material and equipment required.

  • Inspect machines, engines, transmissions etc. and run diagnostic tests to discover functionality issues (Marine engines and generators).

  • Constructing replacement parts using drawings and various hand and power tools.

  • Conduct repairs aiming for maximum reliability.

  • Troubleshoot reported problems and resolve them in a timely manner.

  • Perform thorough maintenance on machinery, equipment and systems.

  • Replenish fluids and components of engines and machinery.

  • Inspect equipment and provide consultation on correct maintenance.

  • Must have working knowledge of Kohler products and Nanni products.

  • Must have experience working on Vetus, Fischer Panda and generators.

  • Keep track of unused parts, additional parts, receipts for parts, etc.

  • Must have working knowledge of Yanmar, Volvo Penta marine engines.

Necessary Skills:

 

  • Proven experience, preferably marine, as a Marine Diesel Mechanic.

  • Excellent knowledge of machinery systems and components.

  • Mechanically inclined with natural aptitude.

  • Ability to identify and work with various tools and equipment.

  • Must be able to work independently on marine repair and replacements.

  • Up-to-date on industry standards and protocols.

  • Refer to guidelines, read and follow instruction manuals, etc.

  • Obtain necessary certifications and remain current on education requirements.

  • Understand and follow health and safety guidelines.

  • Ability to problem solve and communicate.

  • Provide excellent customer service.
